Its Been a Long Time..

Greetings Everyone,

Its been around two months give or take since my last blog post. Life has been very busy for my family and I. Work has consumed a lot of my time and what is left is consumed by the family. My wife and I have recently found out that we will be having another little pirate joining our crew so being busy is only the beginning. There is a lot of big things in store for the future.

As for Portumus…

I haven’t had much time to build or to plan anything out yet.. I did however start the main castle/palace on the island. The castle is going to be a fantasy French style with some small steam punk additions. I only have the main gate figured out for the most part and even then its a work in progress. Here is what the Gatehouse looks like right now:

I would really like to get back into blogging, writing, and creating the world I had imagined from the beginning of this project. I will hopefully be setting up a day or two for a weekly stream and be able to get back into Portumus. There are still a few things to figure out but I think we will come out on top in the end!

Im Still Here…

Greetings Everyone!!

Its been a while since my last post. I have been busy with family and then traveling for work. Iv had some time to think about things and where they are going with Portumus as well as the blog and other social media.

The first thing I want to talk about is my streaming on twitch. I haven’t been able to stream much (due to not having time) but my wonderful son and wife got me a new toy! It’s a Stream Deck and its amazing! Check it out!  The Stream Deck will let me do things at the touch of a button. Its integrated into OBS with an add-on as well as social medias. I havent fully set it up but have been messing around with it a bit. Its worth checking out and I would recommend it to anyone who streams.

The blog itself and all of my social medias connected to it have been difficult to manage. Between setting up the pages themselves and adding content to them its a lot of work. I have drawn out what I want the website to look like and how I want to organize the pages. The site will be more about a world being created and different aspects of the world. Portumus will be a major part of the site as of right now. Later more of the world will come. The blog will continue, I am going to try to blog two or three times a week but cannot guarantee anything.

Now let’s get to the build….

We have talked a lot about the steampunk style and other styles I want on the island. Since finishing most of the Blue Sunflower I would like to move onto another bigger project. There is still a lot of surroundings that need to be done as well as many interiors, but we will get to those.

The next part of the island I want to work on is going to be the academy. I want to build a place of knowledge on the island. More of a steampunk college if you will. This is going to be a place of great knowledge on the island that philosophers and scientist will travel from a far to visit or get the chance to study here. It will have a great library where there will be scholars studying books, an observatory to study the stars, and submarine bay to study the sea. I want it to be a grand looking place with steampunk aspects.

I will start showing updates on the academy as soon as i get home to start building ;P

A Little Apple Orchard…

Greetings everyone!

So I haven’t had much time to get on to conquest a build this week. My family and I have been very busy with the nice outside weather. But I was able to get on and build what I think is a nice little apple orchard. Now this is a tad North West of the Blue Sunflower on the main road. I don’t exactly have a name for it yet and I will be adding more around to create more of an atmosphere but its a small start.

This apple orchard will be one of many. The apples will then be sold at market for various things. One of those things being Apple Ale. I’m thinking that the Island of Portumus will have some of its own Ale production, instead of having to import it all.

I went with kind of steam punk style with this house. The bottom portion is very small only being 4×5. Then the top portion of the house sticks out a lot more. This will be more of a lower class styled house (not a servants house). Right now there are no other buildings around the orchard, but I am thinking of building a few different things.

First thing being some kind of shed to store apples. There would be a lot of apples coming from the orchards. I think they would need somewhere to store the apples so that they wouldn’t be open to the weather and animals after being picked.

Second thing could be a smaller stable or cart house. I’m not sure if I want to build some kind of barn or what round. Maybe two birds with one stone and store the apples and everything inside of a barn like structure. This would be a place to store their cart and horses as well.

And the third thing is a press house to press the apples. This would be a place to get all the wonderful juices out of the apples. This might be more of something I would put in the city. Like a production for the ale or even other products. This way its more like a business that the orchards from al over the island would bring their apples or other fruits too.

So these are just some thoughts. I have a bigger project planned here in the near future, I just need to find a good place for it and come up with a good concept palate. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next time!!

The Blue Sunflower Inn & Pier..

Greetings Everyone!!!

As of right now, I am calling the exterior of the Sunflower area completed! The only things missing as of right now are the ships and interiors of the buildings. I want to add 3 ships total to this area. One larger merchant ship on the right side of the pier, One smaller one docked in front of the pier, and on in the bay area. There will also be some smaller like boats they would use to get to and from the ship in the bay. For the interiors, I am not that good at interiors, so it will be a work in progress for right now.

Below are some pictures of the build!! Leave some feedback in the comments and let me know what you think. I could use the feedback on the projects as well as the blog!

The Sunflower Inn

The Sunflower Inn is a large Inn located on the southern end of the Portumus. It is built on the side of a cliff, right on the coast. It is not only for travelers by land, as the main road goes right through it, but also by the sea. It has a large pier attached to one side of it that allows for trade and products to come in as well as the business of people sailing by.

The Sunflower Pier

The pier is a great place to come to trade or sell goods. It is also a great place to dock a boat to come ashore. The pier has two large cranes (Karlfeldt’s Design) and two large warehouses. The warehouse on the left is completely made of stone but is only one story. The one on the right is made of wood but has three stories to it. With in the pier is a Pub and Market for trade and goods.

The Sunflower Pier Interior

This is the interior of the Pier itself. The first three pictures are of the Sailors pub. This is not a very big pub and is mainly for the sailors of the ships themselves. Here they can get a warm meal and cold drink any hours of the night or day.

The last three pictures are of the Sunflower Pier Market that is located within the pier as well. Here people can find anything like oddities from around the world, different smith products and foods from all over the place.

The Sunflower Pier Part II

Greetings Everyone!!

I am happy to say that for the most part I am completed with the Sunflower pier. There are still a few things to add and they will come. Lets start out with what I have completed.

The first picture is the finish pier itself from the front. Like I said there are a few details that still need to be added but It’s mostly a finished project. The top right picture is the pier from the side. I added stairs down to another dock on the back side. This way both large ships and smaller ships can dock here. I plan on adding a larger ship that will be docked on this side. It will just have a ramp from the top of the pier to the deck of the ship. I’m going to be adding some cranes to this side of the pier as well.

The bottom left picture is the top floor finished of the wooden warehouse. This warehouse has 3 floors. All three floors are finished, they just don’t have any cargo inside of them at all. The bottom floor will have a wagon in it as well. The bottom right picture is the stone buildings interior. This is completely finished on the inside. I didn’t want it to be to cluttered in this building as it is not a busy port.

The one part I did not finish is the interior of the pier itself. Like I said in my last post, I am going to add a market as well as a pub. I will also be adding more ships around (as soon as I figure out how to build a ship) and I would like to add a harbor masters building somewhere. Other than that once the small details are done, this part of the build should be complete!

The Sunflower Pier…

Greetings Everyone!

Last few post about The Blue Sunflower, I talked about the docks or the pier. I was kind of torn about making more of a board walk scene out of it or making more of a warehouse situation where they could bring in goods and whatnot. I ended up going with more of the ware house situation but kind of added a few things to it. Now, the build is not complete and still has a lot of work to be done, but to me it is starting to get there and will look great in the end. Here is what I have so far..

Sunflower Pier

The warehouse has two parts. The left being a stone building where goods will be stored, and the right being a 3 story warehouse where they can store a wagon on the bottom and more things in the top two floors. There will be cranes added to the right side of the pier so that larger ships can dock there to unload their goods.

Below the pier there is going to be a large space for some what of a “market” are as well as a pub for sailors. You can kind of see this area on the bottom left of the pier. The market area will be more of a black market in a way. It is more out in the open but my idea will be that people will sell things here that you wouldn’t normally be able to walk into a store or normal market to buy. I will post pictures of this area when it is more completed.

Like I said, there is a ton of work to be done on this part of the island. A lot of detail work as well as interiors. This build for me has been really fun though and I’ve enjoyed more of a larger build. As it grows more and more lore is being created in my head, and when I finish the entire Sunflower area I will be creating a page on the site. It will have finished pictures of the build as well as the lore that revolves around the area.

Island Transportation…

Greetings Everyone!!

I was thinking today about Portumus and how people would move from one place to the other easily. I started to think up some ideas and looking on Pinterest for inspiration and I think I came up with some decent ideas. There will be three main ways of travel to get around the island as well as to and from the island. These main ways will be by Water, air, and land.

I’ve talked about the different “styles” of builds that will be on the island and we will implement those into the ideas of transportation as will. Steampunk is going to be a big one thinking of travel by air and water. I don’t want cars and trucks driving around though. Other styles will be involved as well that we will get to…

Water Transportation

When I think of transportation by water, I think ships! I will be adding ships to the build, but I don’t want to add the most massive ships I can build. I kind of went over this in a very early post, but I want to have smaller to medium ships. More of a brig or frigate type ship would be suitable for this build. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t add one or two larger ships, more for either military or large cargo company purposes.

I also want to use ships from different cultures you would see around the world of Aligord. Like an oriental Junk ship or Viking styled long boats would be nice additions. The reason for this would be to show diversity and that Portumus is a major trading port of the world. Below are just some examples of ships I think I would like to use…

Another part of water transportation is going to be by submarine. These submarines are going to be very basic and almost made like a barrel would be made. They will be supporting only a few people inside and wont necessarily be for actual transportation but more for exploring. The island of Portumus is not only going to be a major trade hub of goods, but also knowledge! Here are some Pictures of submarines as well as some examples I’ve already made in Conquest.

Air Transportation

Transportation by air is going to be a little bit trickier. I want to add hot air balloons of different types to the build almost like the different styles of ships. What I don’t want to add are massive air ships with sails or big fans that are supposed to keep them air born.

Another way of transportation I want to add is more of City transportation like a hanging rail tram. This would only be for within the city or to get to important places throughout the island. It will also be a high class way to get around, being it will be very fancy. Below are some inspirations I would like to use..

Land Transportation

The last piece of transportation is by land. When it comes to land I am thinking I will use the typical wagons for the most part either open in the back or covered. For the higher class people there will be nicer coaches for them to get from one place to another. These will be your normal types of wagons but here are some examples.

So all of these are just examples or ideas and may or may not change at anytime.  Transportation within the city or even outside all around is a very important piece of the build to think about. It shows movement in the build and helps with atmosphere. This in the end will help you immerse yourself into the build and feel as if the world is real.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or anything else to say drop it in the comments!
